The Most Famous Battles in World War II: Remembering History
They say our future is defined by how we remember and learn from our
past. If this is so, then we sure have a lot of things to learn and
know. One of the most memorable events that humanity has experienced is
World War II. Yes, we may have witnessed quite a lot of wars and
conflicts throughout our history but what makes this event so memorable
is that it involves the world’s strongest nations in an armed conflict.
The reason why World War II history should always be remembered and
treasured not just by us but by future generations as well is because
that World War II is one of the main forces that has shaped our world
and our culture.

World War II led to a lot of political and global changes. It shifted
the power to the countries that we now know as today’s world leaders. It
created new international laws regarding civil and human rights and
limited some counties in terms of their weapons manufacturing. In
general, it molded the world that we now know of today. Listed below are
the most memorable battles in World War II history that is worth
mentioning about.
- The Battle of Prussia (1944). This historic battle lasted
for about 2 months. This is known to be one of the biggest offensive
moves by the Axis forces in World War II history – and one of the
bloodiest as well. Many World War II historians regarded this as one
of the classic example of a dictator’s desperation, leading to the
death of almost a million German soldiers in the battlefields of
East Prussia.

- The Battle of Stalingard (1942-1943). Bringing more that
a million Allied and Axis soldiers to Stalingrad, this fateful
battle are considered to be one of the most important events in
WWII. Ending with the defeat of the German Army and the massive loss
to their artillery and manpower, this allowed the Russians to
successfully penetrate German borders.
- The Battle of Britain (1940). With Britain’s neighbors
falling one by one to the might of the German forces, this left
Great Britain standing alone to defend its borders. Surprisingly,
the Brits won this war due to strategic use of artillery and
firepower and because of very simple glitches in the German’s
tactical plans such as fuel deficiency.
These are just one of the very few battles that took place in
World War II history. There are thousands of others that may not be
as grand but they are nonetheless fought by brave men and equally
worth remembering.
